Windows CD/DVD Emulation

After a complete HDD re-format and clean OS install today (Win7) I stumbled upon WinCDEmu, a completely free and open-source CD/DVD emulator. I have used Daemon Tools Lite in the past, however WinCDEmu stood out for the following reasons…

  • Automatically associates with .iso  files (and alike)
  • Disc images can be mounted directly from explorer by double clicking the image file
  • Disc images can be  created directly from explorer
  • Completely free and open-source, no hidden nasties
  • Portable version available
  • Doesn’t require a reboot!
