Check this variable;

testformtom.options[testform.tom.selectedIndex].value

  1. NB:- An alternate method to this is to put all the options into an aray and loop through checking the selected attribute of each

    var Items=New Array();
    Items=testform.tom.options;
    for(var i=0;i<Items.length;i++)
    {
    if(Items[i].selected)
    {
    alert(“Selected Item = “+Items[i]);
    }
    }
